Refugees and Immigrants in Maryland
ERICA serves both refugees and asylees. Refugees are granted status while still abroad, while asylees are awarded protection once coming to the United States. In order to be designated a refugee or asylee, a person must prove that they have been persecuted because of their race, religion, nationality, or affiliation with a social or political group.
